Cláudia Coelho Takes Part in the Casa de Portugal's Grand June Festival with Storytelling and Book Exhibition
The author joined the event's cultural program alongside the Samburá Storytelling Collective and Jornal & Editora Alecrim.
Literature found its place among the colorful pennant flags, the sound of traditional forró music, and the aroma of festive foods during the Grand June Festival at Casa de Portugal in Teresópolis. From July 3 to 5, writer, cultural producer, and storyteller Cláudia Coelho participated in the event with an activity that brought together tradition, reading mediation, and the appreciation of Brazilian popular culture.
Together with the Samburá Storytelling Collective and Jornal & Editora Alecrim, Cláudia presented a storytelling session specially designed around the spirit of Brazil's traditional June celebrations. Through music, memorable characters, games, and audience interaction, children and adults were invited to experience stories inspired by Brazilian folk traditions, strengthening their connection with reading through oral storytelling, memory, and imagination.
The activity was part of Alecrim's cultural program and demonstrated how literature naturally connects with different artistic and popular cultural expressions. In an atmosphere filled with music, folk dances, square dances, and families enjoying the festivities together, storytelling became a space for participation, attentive listening, and shared experiences across generations.
In addition to the storytelling presentation, Cláudia Coelho's books were showcased at the Jornal & Editora Alecrim booth, where visitors had the opportunity to discover her publications, learn more about her literary career, and explore the editorial work carried out by the publishing house. The space became a welcoming meeting point for readers, writers, and visitors, highlighting the importance of promoting regional literature at major cultural events.
Among the festival's musical attractions were Olívia Maria, Acústicos Anônimos, Rômulo Loves, Forró de Matuta, and Seu Quixote, alongside traditional square dances, folk dance performances, a children's recreation area, an artisan fair, regional cuisine, and activities designed for the whole family. The diversity of the program helped establish the 2026 edition as one of the most memorable in the recent history of Casa de Portugal.
Cláudia Coelho's participation reflects a long-standing commitment to reading promotion, literary mediation, and audience development. Through Jornal & Editora Alecrim, the Kombiteca, and the Samburá Storytelling Collective, she collaborates on projects in schools, libraries, public squares, literary festivals, and cultural events, encouraging access to books, promoting local authors, and strengthening reading practices in diverse community spaces.
